Newmarket 1000 Guineas - 2010 Race Guide
The 1000 Guineas is a Group One flat race for three year old thoroughbred fillies. It is run in early May each year over the famous Rowley Mile at Newmarket racecourse. It is one of two main feature races at the Stan James Guineas Festival, the other being the colts equivalent, the 2000 Guineas. The Festival runs over two days on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3. The 1000 Guineas is raced on the Sunday, while the 2000 Guineas takes place the day before. There will be six supporting races on each of the two days.
2009 Guneas Result
A major upset with the odds on favourite Rainbow View beaten some way out and a major shock in the form of Ghanaati on his first turf run having had two warm up races at Kempton in October of last year, this was Barry Hill second win in the 1000 Guineas the last was in 1978.
